Question
I had an abortion on the 25 October a surgical one . i was 7 weeks pregnent.it is now 5 weeks and my tummy is still big and didnt see any periods since then ecept some little sporting.i went to see onether doctor on the 29 Nov, The doctotor does not feel any baby in my womb but the urine test are still positive.Does this means the procedure was unsuccessful or not? i havent had any sex since my abortions.Pls help

Answer
Hi Maria

A pregnancy test can still be positive up to 8 weeks after an abortion as the hormones take awhile to leave your body. This doesnt mean you are still pregnant.

Bloating is also normal. The only way to know is a blood test where they can measure the exact level of hormones to see if it is going down or not.

Periods can also take up to 8 weeks to come back. At this stage I would not worry to much.

I would get a blood test or wait another 2 weeks and repeat the test again.

Abortions especially surgical are very reliable, not everyone bleeds alot afterwards.

Hope this helped. Take care, vanessa :-)
