Question
hi, <

My girlfriend had an abortion, about 3 months ago , and at that poin in time she was considered as 9 weeks perganant. She went for an abortion that was performed in a government hospital by a professional. She was traumatised by the procedure and mentioned of how painfull it was. ever since that time we were on the edge relationship wise , and she was just phsycologically scard.. Eventually we managed to get through that now but , during that time she kept complaining of a pain in the abdomine.  I recommended for her to go see a doctor but she refused and said she`d rather die than go through that process again. she was just kidding and , we both brushed it off and ignored the problem. Two days ago she decided to go see her doctor only to find out the she might be pregnant. now taht doesnt make sense at all. She is going for ultrasounds on wednesday only then will we know for sure. my question now is it possible to have an incomplete abortion? what are the chances that the fetus is still alive ?  will the baby be born handicaped ,because we do intend to keep the baby...

Answer
Hello Ced,

Thanks for your question. It is possible that the abortion missed the baby or was incomplete. I would recommend that you go to a different doctor than the abortionist. You should go to a prolife doctor. You might be able to locate one by calling a pregnancy resource center. 1-800-395-HELP or http://www.optionline.org to find a local one. They might be able to refer to a doctor. Let me know how the ultrasound goes. I can't tell you if the baby would be alive or handicapped but they can tell you from the ultrasound. If you do want to keep the baby, then don't go back to where you had the abortion because they would not be unbiased. Her emotional reactions are somewhat normal for having an abortion and a lot of relationships break up after an abortion. Please email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com so we can talk more. Or she can email me as well.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
