About Pat G
Expertise
I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of six. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues.

Experience
I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.

Question
I had an abortion by pill on March 5. I have gone to my followup appointments
and they said the abortion was complete and i am not pregnant anymore. It has
been almost a month and i am still bleeding(not heavy but not light either). How
long does the bleeding usually last? Is this normal or should i go see my regular
gyno?

Answer
Hi, MLR,

You are asking a specific question about your body, and I can't answer over the internet, and neither could a doctor. When you take the pills for abortion, you are giving your body powerful doses of hormones, and this is going to affect the delicate balance of your body (in fact, Cytotec is given off label, which means the manufacturer recommends AGAINST using it for this purpose). To tell the truth, I don't think there is such a thing as "normal" after an abortion, because each woman's body is different. I would very much encourage you to talk to your gyno, at least over the phone, and ask whatever questions you have. If necessary, s/he can tell you to come in and be seen. Good luck with this, and stay safe!
