About Pat G
Expertise
I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of six. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues.

Experience
I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.

Question
hi ma'am
once again thanks for your last reply couldnt ask a follow up as that would make too many follow ups. But ma'am what i would like to ask you i think this ought to be the last question as i am preparing to take her to the doctor asap. Well after the abortion she not only got her periods under the stipulated six weeks but also a blood HCG test proved negetive 4 exactly 4 weeks after the abortion i think that pretty much proves that the abortion took care of that particular thing. Now if and when i do take her to the doctor should i tell the doctor she has had an abortion? will it be necessery? or can we just tell her she has been working out and her last period date was 31st March to 5th May. Will mentioning the abortion be necessery or with the above information you think its all been taken care of and doesnt need to be mentioned? and although she an i are practically sure that shes not pregnant as nothing happened between us so do you think we can just tell the doctor that or should we take a blood HCG test before we see the doctor to make things easier for the doctor or will she be ok taking our word for it. Now ma'am please answer me quickly as i am taking her to see the doctor soon. Just incase you cant Figure out its Irfan whose girlfriend had an abortion who you helped out before an now we were having trouble with suspected Amenorrhea. Do reply looking forward to your answer.
Take care and cant thank you enough for the all the help you have given me.

Answer
Hi, Irfan,

Yes, I do remember you and your situation. It's fine, because I get your name with the message.

From what you told me, the likelihood of your girlfriend being pregnant now is next to none (unless there is something in this situation I don't know about). You have to have sex to produce a pregnancy, and if you are abstaining, that's a 100% guarantee.

If and when you take her to a doctor, it will be up to her to talk to the doctor. She SHOULD tell her about the abortion, because it could play a role, and if the doctor doesn't know about it, she can't come to a correct diagnosis of the problem. She should also go to a counselor to make sure that her extreme workouts aren't an emotional reaction to the abortion. If you need help finding one, let me know. Lots of counselors aren't really trained in post-abortion counseling yet.

The reason I say extreme workouts is because it isn't usually the case that someone loses her period from working out for only a few weeks. The other question is whether she has been taking any hormones (particularly male hormones) to try to build muscle. That is really a dangerous thing to do. Also, it is dangerous not to get adequate nutrition, so look into that as well.

Taking a test beforehand won't make things any easier for the doctor, so don't worry about it. Try to relax. I don't see anything here that should be undue cause for worry, unless she has developed a medical condition we know nothing about. Even just worry can stop a period.

You're welcome. Feel free to write back anytime, and let me know how things go.
