Abortion/Concerned

Question
I had an abortion on April 25, 2008 at 6 weeks of pregnancy. I bled for about 1 1/2- 2 weeks. I then had a normal period on May 22, 2008. I started bleeding again on June 12, 2008 and it is now 5 days since I started bleeding again and the color (bright red) has not changed. My periods are normally 5-7 days but the color gradually changes. I'm concerned...I'm not sure if it's normal for me to bleed so soon again after my period. I started bleeding a week before my period was due. Also, I missed my 3 week appointment after the abortion so they won't see me now.

Answer
Bana,

I have never heard of a clinic refusing to see you if you missed an appointment. It seems that they would want to make sure that you are ok. You really need to seek medical attention. Bleeding this long is not healthy. Do you have a personal physician to see? If not, try calling the pregnancy resource center and see if they can refer you to a doctor or go to a community clinic. http://www.optionline.org or call 1-800-395-HELP if not in U.S. then go to http://www.heartbeatinternational.org/worldwide_directory.asp
Would you email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com and let me know what happens. I am concerned as well.

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
