Question
Hi Dr. Joan, Lisa again

My blood test cameback and the horomones were slightly up, not a lot, but up. Not enough to continue to be pregnant is what I have been told.

But another problem.

I was told that I may have some placenta that needs to be removed by another procedure tomorrow. Unlike last time, week, I will not be asleep so I'm very concerned.

I was also told that there would be a live sonogram guiding this time.

Is this common, tissue that needs to be removed after the abortion procedure? Do I have something bigger to be worried about that I'm not being told? I'm very confused and scared.

Answer
Dear Lisa,
I'm afraid I'm too late answering your question.  I am guessing from what you told me that there was some retained tissue, causing your hormone level to be elevated.  This is not an uncommon problem, and can be easily resolved with a quick procedure.  It sounds like you are having that done.  It sounds like there may have been some unusual shape to your uterus, that they are needing to use an ultrasound to guide the procedure.
I hope that it went well, and I apologize for the late reply.
Doctor Joan
