Question I had an abortion in 2007. I was 11 weeks and had the vacuum aspiration procedure. My boyfriend does not know. I told him that I miscarried. If I were to get pregnant again and had to have a csection ( I had an emergency csection in 2005), would there be evidence of the abortion? Scarring, etc? Is there a possibility that it could be brought up by the doctors during delivery? We really want another baby & I am terrified that what I did could come up in the delivery room. I would really appreciate your help!
Answer Dear Brandy,
As far as I can tell, there is no evidence left of a routine abortion a year after the fact. I have just read some medical journals on the subject and could not find anything that referenced scarring during a routine abortion. Also, your medical history is completely private and your doctor is not allowed too discuss it with anyone without your consent. Medical privacy is covered under HIPAA laws. If it would make you feel more comfortable, you could discuss this alone, in private, with your doctor before the delivery. Your conversations with your doctor are also private.
