Question QUESTION: Good morning, I am supposed to have a medical abortion 7/18, I want to know how soon after that would I be able to conceive again? am I fertile right away afterwards?
ANSWER: Dear Meaka,
Yes, you are fertile right away, with the next menstrual cycle. I don't think it's a good idea for your body to do that, though. I'd let it heal a little bit first, maybe wait a couple of months.

QUESTION: Why isnt it a good idea to try and conceive right afterwards? what are the consequences? I dont want to have to wait a few mos, but if its not safe "medically" then I understand
Answer Dear Meaka,
An abortion is a disruption of your hormonal system, and it takes a couple of menstrual cycles to get everything back to normal. A consequence could be a miscarriage because the hormones were not back to normal enough to sustain a pregnancy.
You could ask the doctor at the clinic when you go in for the medical abortion these questions, to get a professional medical opinion.
