Subject: abortion could i be still pregnant

Question
hi,
i have had an abortion two days ago.i was six weeks and four days pregnant  but I'm regretting this already ,,, my question could i still be pregnant cuz i still have sore or tender breast just like pregnancy and feeling very tired , crying alot, back and abdominal pain,,
Please tell me when can i take the exam , i really want to be pregnant.

Answer
Dear Kajhal,
Symptoms of pregnancy do not go away for 1-2 weeks after an abortion.  It is unlikely that you are still pregnant, unless the doctor who did the procedure told you they were concerned and drew blood tests.  However, you should not be having abdominal pain at this stage, and you should call the doctor and describe your symptoms to them.
If you made a mistake, the only thing to do is to move forward and learn what you can from the mistake.  Maybe you learned that you really do want to be pregnant, or maybe you learned something about the person you are in a relationship with.  Maybe there are things you need to put in place in your life before you can be excited about having a baby.  The good news is that early abortion does not affect fertility, and if you really want to be pregnant, you can wait a month and start trying.
I hope this is helpful,
Doctor Joan
