Question
I had an abortion on 11th June with a certified and registered clinic. I bled only for 3 days after the abortion and the bleeding was not that heavy. I was told by my doctor that I would have my next menses within 4-6 weeks. However, I checked online and it was stated in one of the websites that women who have undergone abortion can have their next menses as late as the 8th week.

I did not have my menses at all eversince I went through the abortion. I did have spotting (just a few drops of blood for 2 days) on 20th July. Prior before my spotting,I experienced intense pain in my lower abdomen which unable me to  sit much more lie down in bed wihout feeling pain.

I went to see the doctor about this (however I did not disclose to the doctor that I jus had an abortion recently)and the doctor prescribed me some medicine and the pain went away.

The doctor did mentioned that I may be having ectopic pregnancy however after doing a pregnancy test I was certified not pregnant. I am expecting my period within this week but I don't experience any symptoms that I am about to have my period soon. I used to have tender and sensitive breasts as well as loose stools 2 weeks before my menses.

My question is - Why are my periods irregular now and why don't I experience the same symptoms like I used to after going thru the abortion? Is the spotting normal?

I would recommend that you go to a doctor whom you can tell that you had an abortion. I think the doctor should know all the possible information about you and your situation so that he/she can make the right diagnosis. You should have your period shortly so if you don't, like I said, I would advise you to go to another doctor. The spotting happens after abortion but I can't tell you if it is normal.
