Question
i'm sixteen, almost seventeen years old, and about a month and a half ago on july 11. i had an abortion. i was almost seven weeks along. my parents know about the abortion, they and my ex-boyfriend went with me. i had the suction aspiration procedure, and afterwards in recovery, i was not recovering. i was in extreme pain, was bleeding heavily and my blood pressure dropped extremely low. my systolic pressure was in the fifties. the doctor came in and did another ultrasound, and told me i had a blood clot the size of a large lemon in my uterus. i had the procedure repeated.
afterwards i was in so much pain. not just for a day or two, but i had horrible cramping for about a week, after that it started getting better, but i was still in pain. i started birth control, and bled until i got my period. after i had my period i thought i was fine. but a week and a half later when i was on vacation i started bleeding again. and it was weirdish blood too. really thin and brown, nothing like period blood. i'm still bleeding from that, its off and on. its pretty light but randomly it'll get heavier. i was supposed to get my period on august 31 but it hasn't come still, and today is the second of september. i'm still bleeding a little, the weird way. but i always have extreme cramps with my period and am really exhausted, and i haven't gotten any signs that it's coming. i missed two or three pills, but made them up the way the instructions from the pills said i should. i have had sex twice awhile after that, but i really don't feel pregnant. and i think the timing would have been off..i think it was too late for me to get pregnant, as it was a few days before my period was due. i took a pregnancy test and it was negative. i'm really not sure what's going on, does this sound like any abortion complication? or any ideas of what's going on? thank you so much for your time i really appreciate it.

Answer
Hi Shelby,

I cannot diagnose your condition over the internet, but in my opinion, you need to have a checkup at a medical doctor. And not the place you went for the abortion. This could be serious and I am concerned about you. It could be a side effect of the abortion. Also, about being pregnant, there is always a slight possibility that you could be pregnant because your ovulation might not be regular at this point. Also, I would advise you to not have sex right now until you find out what is going on with your body. Please email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com and let me know what is happening. I'll be praying for you.
