I had my surgery on May 28th, 2008. Three days after, i had a fever which lasted for one night. I went back the next day and the nurse gave me some methergine pills, because she believed my fever was mainly due to the fever. After taking the pills, i experienced heavy clots and the fever did go away.

Since I started to have sex with my husband after the surgery, i also begin to feel that i am not as 'sensitive' as before during our sexual activities and I was 'dry'. I was hoping things would get better with the recovery from the abortion, but it didn't change.

My first period started on August 1st, which was almost 3 months after the surgery. The period stayed for 12 days.
Two weeks after the period, I had bleeding again. My husband and i just had sex the night before this bleeding and the bleeding only lasted for one day.

I don't know whether the bleeding i just experienced was a short 'period' or a really bleeding. If it is period, why it is so close to my last period and only last for one day. If it is bleeding, does it indicate something wrong, as i shouldn't have bleeding 3 months after the abortion? Does it relate to sex the night before the bleeding?

Sadly enough, on the night i experienced the bleeding, my husband ejaculated in me, as he thought i was having a period to start. However, the bleeding stopped the next day. I am getting so worried that the one day bleeding was not a period but something wrong is happening, and that I could get pregnant again.

Diane, have you heard of people who experienced the same post-abortion problems as I did? For what i have described above, what you would suggest me to do? Thanks!

I don't know whether the short bleeding was period or not. If it is, it was just two weeks since the last one... If it is bleeding, does it relate to the sex the night before?Or is it due to my abortion surgery? But why i still experience bleeding 3 months after the surgery? Does it indicate some infection or other problem?

Hi Rachel,

I haven't heard of these particular problems. I have heard of problems with not wanting sex as much or some bleeding. I'm concerned that you are having bleeding this length of time after your abortion.
Did you go back to have your post abortion checkup? I would recommend that you go to another doctor or your regular doctor and just have a checkup. See if anything is abnormal. I can't tell you if it's an infection or diagnose you over the internet. Maybe when you consult your doctor, you could also find out if you should take a pregnancy test.
