Question
i am 20.my boyfriend n i are in a longdistance relationship, so this time when he came down to uae, the country where i stay, we had sex from dates ranging between 19-27th. we practised the withdrawal contraception method and he always came outside my vagina.my last period was on the 15th of december and my usual menstruation cycle lasts 27-28 days. today is the 17th of jan n i still havent gotten my period. i had my pms symptoms with acne, moodiness and cramps so i presumed that my period would be on the way, but these have subsided now. also i havent experienced any pregnancy symptoms suchas tenderness of breasts.how soon should i test with a home pregnancy test and how many times and how often? also if it is positive, i know there is hope with mifepristone+ misoprostol. but i dont know about its availability.also since the laws here are strict about abortion and unmarried pregnancies i am scared to even consult a gyn.could i be pregnant, what should i do? if i am, would u be able to consult me about the dosage of the abortion pill?

Answer
Dear Shazia,
The best thing to do is to check a pregnancy test.  If it is positive, you can check a second one.  The most accurate tests are not digital (meaning that the best ones don't have words like "pregnant", but have two lines).

If you are pregnant, you can consult earlyabortion.com.  There is a link to find find out about the correct dosing of misoprostol.  Unfortunately, I don't know any resources in your country.

Good luck with your situation,
Doctor Joan
