Question
Hi, i had an abortion two months ago, and last month i had
my cycle along with this one. My cycle started this week
just when i was getting ready to ship out for the military.
But on my examination papers it had shown that i was
positive. I don't know what is going on so I was wondering
is it possible to still show up positive after two months?
I had a friend who had an abortion before, and she said it
took her five months before her hormones were normal again.
I had safe sex, but is it still easy to get pregnant once
more?

Dear Suelynn,
It is possible and common to have a persistent positive pregnancy test for 2 months after an abortion.  However, you need to be evaluated to make sure it's not a continuing pregnancy from 2 months ago, or a new pregnancy.  The best thing would be to go to see a doctor, and they will check blood tests.  You will probably need to check one now, and then one 48 hours later.  They will be checking to see if the number is high, or going up (this would indicate you are pregnant) or low and going down (this would be normal from your earlier pregnancy).
