Answer
Hi, Hammy,

This isn't Dr Shan. This is PatG. So you may want to try asking the doctor again. But I will give you some information. First of all, the amount of bleeding after D&C seems to vary a lot. Also, the bleeding five days later may or may not have been an ordinary period. Lower back pain and feeling bloated could be due to other causes, such as infection. If your partner entered your body at all, even though he did not ejaculate, pregnancy is still possible. Given the timing, you could have been fertile at the time you had sex. If your pregnancy tests showed negative, then the hormones from your previous pregnancy should not be an issue. You could, however, be pregnant again. Since you said you are five days late, it is a little early for some of the pregnancy tests to register a positive. So you should test again in a week. On the other hand, abortion disrupts a woman's hormones, so don't count on having a regular period after having had an abortion. In short, test again in a week, and see what you learn. It will be helpful for the future if you learn how to tell when you ovulate. You have to chart faithfully, and you can't be using any hormones. Please don't have another abortion if you are pregnant. Abortion is dangerous and could kill you or cause serious disability. You deserve better and it's not worth it. There is help available. There are organizations all over the United States that offer help. You can even go to one for a free pregnancy test. To find one near you, please go here: http://www.pregnancycenters.org/

I hope everything will be well with you. Please take care of yourself and don't take any more chances. I'm here if you need to talk further, and would appreciate knowing what happens.

I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of eleven. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues. I am not a doctor, but I have done extensive medical research, so I may be able to help with information. I am female. When you write, if you are or were pregnant, please tell me how far along you were or are, and if you have had an abortion, please tell me what kind. Thank you.

Experience

I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.
