Abortion/Pain after D&C

Question
Would first like to thank you for your time.  I had  missed misscarriage, i was 9 weeks but the baby stopped growing at 8 weeks.  I had the D&C on Tuesday (its Saturday now), the first day i had bleeding and it was normal.. i only had cramping initially but after a few hours it went away.. on the second day the bleeding stopped and no cramping.. on the third day it was still manageable pain wise like i would have some cramping and the bleeding started to come back a little.. now on the 4th and 5th day which is today i am having contraction like pains and they are really painful. i can barely move, hurts when i sit or stand.. when i walk i need to have my hands on my lower abs as it helps relieve some pain .. it hurts especially when going to the toilet.. i dont have a fever though and only very light bleeding with small clots.. the medicine the doctor gave was Dologesic -32 tab (Medonol) it seems to relieve the pain for like an hour or 2 but then it comes back again.. is this normal? Or should i call the doctor?  thanks so much for your advice..

Answer
Hi Chelle,

Pain after a d&c is normal and should be gone after about 10 days, however unbearable pain is not normal. The pain you are having now may be due to an ovarian cyst or scar tissue, or it may just be a muscular pain. A cyst in early pregnancy is normal, it is called a corpus luteum and it produces the progesterone that is necessary to keep a pregnancy going in the first several weeks. If this pain continues or becomes worse, visit your doctor.
