Question
I HAD AN ABORTION ON THE 15TH OF AUGUST. ON THE 16TH I STARTED TO TAKE THE BIRTH CONTROL THAT WAS GIVEN TO ME BY THE CLINIC. ON THE 24TH OF  AUGUST I BLEED A LITTLE (I HAD A REALLY BAD CRAMP), AFTER THAT IT WAS JUST DISCHARGE FOR A FEW DAYS. I WENT TO MY FOLLOW UP APPT. AND I WAS GIVEN MORE BIRTH CONTROL TO TAKE. I AM ALMOST 2 WEEKS INTO THE  BIRTH CONTROL AND I STILL HAVN'T HAD MY  PERIOD AND I AM VERY SCARED. MY QUESTION IS WILL MY PERIOD EVER COME? IS THIS A SIGN OF NOT BEING ABLE TO HAVE CHILDREN IN THE FUTURE? PLEASE HELP ME ANSWER MY QUESTIONS. I AM VERY CONFUSED AND VERY UNHAPPY. I JUST WANT TO BE ABLE TO HAVE CHILDREN IN THE FUTURE WHEN I AM READY.

Answer
Dear LadyA,
First, you should check a pregnancy test.  It should be negative by now.  If it is negative, missing your period is most likely from the birth control pills.  It is common and normal not to get your period when you first start birth control.  The best thing would be to call the clinic and make sure you are taking it correctly.  If you are taking it correctly then it is best that you go ahead and continue to take it.  There is no problem missing a few periods as your body adjusts to the new medication. Your period will eventually come back to normal.  There is nothing to worry about.
I hope this is helpful,
