Question
Dear Doc,

My menstrual cycle is 28 days and my last 1st day period was Sept. 26, 2009.

I took the ovulation calendar and found out that on Oct. 7-possibly fetile, Oct 8-fertile, Oct 9-most fertile, Oct 10-Ovulation, Oct 17-Nesting & i can take blood preg test, Oct 23-urine pregnancy test.
Oct 24-should be my 1st day.

The contact happend on October 12 at 2am. I don't want to get pregnant. So my nurse friend told me to take 3 tablets of gynera within 72 hours. And another 3 after 12 hours.

I took the first 3 tablets on October 15 at 4pm and another 3 after 12 hours on October 16 at 4am.

My questions are as follows:
1. What is the probability that i will get pregnat?
2. What will be the result of the gynera that i took?

Kindly explain to me in details the situation i am into now. I am so much confused and in agony because it will be a big problem from me if i will get pregnant since i was being raped only.

Help me to avoid unwanted pregnancy, i am currently located in United Arab Emirates.

Thanks & Regards,
Jasmin

Answer
Dear Jasmin,
Unfortunately, there is no way to know in advance if you are pregnant, and no way to predict your chances.

However, it is not too early to take a blood pregnancy test.  If you are pregnant, it should be accurate by now.  A blood pregnancy test is accurate about one week after conception.  You can also try a urine pregnancy test first.  If it is positive, you will have your answer.  If it is negative, you can get the blood test to be 100% sure.

I hope this is helpful,
Let me know if it comes out positive, and I will try to help you get the medical care you need.
