Question
I had an abortion ( my first and last) 2 days ago and regret doing it.   How long will it take for my body to heal in order to have intercourse? Can I get pregnant after an abortion or did I ruin my chances of being pregnant?  Is it wrong to feel the need to replace the baby with another one?

Answer
Hi Ruth,

It's not in any way wrong to feel the need to replace the baby, most women feel this way after an abortion. You can become pregnant as soon as 2 weeks after an abortion. Allow your body at least 2 weeks or more to heal, also make sure you feel physically and emotionally ready to resume sex. If no complications occur with this abortion then your fertility will not be affected, however if complications do occur then your chances of conceiving in the future are low or even impossible, however complications are rare so don't worry. Good luck!
