About Pat G
Expertise I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of six. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues.
Experience I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.
Education/Credentials I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.

Abortion - pregnancy after abortion
Expert: Pat G - 10/25/2009
Question I had a abortion 5 weeks ago and I was 4 weeks along. Went to my 2 week check up, pregnancy was definitely terminated and everything was normal. I havent had a period or any bleeding besides the couple of days I bled after the procedure, until today; pinkish brownish discharge that i usually have at the end of my periods. I have been having unprotected sex since 2 weeks after my abortion and ever since. I have taken pregnancy tests and they have all been negative. I have had unprotected sex since taking the last pregnancy test. So im just trying to figure out if I could be pregnant or is this discharge just a early sign of my period? I do have one child and I never experienced any bleeding.
Answer Hello, Chontae,
I'm not sure what you meant by you never experienced any bleeding. Do you mean at the time your child was born? That would be highly unusual. You might want to look at your diet and make sure you are getting adequate nutrition. If you're not getting any animal fat, your body won't have enough to make the necessary hormones to regulate your period. If you want to talk more about this, let me know.
You didn't say what kind of abortion you had. It would be helpful for me to know that.
Abortion disrupts a woman's hormones, so it really isn't possible to predict how a given woman will react. But if you don't want to face the same situation again, it's best to rethink your behavior. At least you know the sex is unprotected. But "protection" doesn't work anyway. If you're not married, it's not in your best interests to have sex at all. You can express affection in other ways. But any penetration into your body anywhere can lead to a nasty disease. If you are married, then the best thing to do may be to learn how to tell when you are fertile. You can't be using hormones, and you have to chart faithfully. For more information, go here:

But nobody can tell you over the internet why you are having these kinds of symptoms, not even a doctor. You should check with a doctor, and let him test your hormones and examine you. Don't go to the person who provided the abortion. Go to someone else.
Since you said the pregnancy tests are negative, I recommend you test again in about a week.
Please take care of yourself. Abortion is dangerous and could take your life. Good luck, and let me know what you find out.
