About Pat G
Expertise I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of six. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues.
Experience I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.
Education/Credentials I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.

Question QUESTION: hi, i had an abortion 5 weeks ago on september 30, 2009 and i had gone to my follow up appoitment and the doc said everything was cleaned ot my uterus and there was no more pregnancy left but i had unprotected sex 3 weeks after can i be pregnant? if you think so how long do i have to wait until i can find out meaning taking a pregnancy test.
ANSWER: Hi, jenna,
Usually, you can test three weeks after you have the sex. If the test is negative, test again in a week. Yes, it is possible to get pregnant right after an abortion. It's not necessarily common, but all it takes is once, as you well know. There are some things you should consider, though, for future reference. You might want to consider seriously taking the kind of chances you are taking. Is it worth it to worry about possible pregnancy? There are other ways to show affection. And pregnancy isn't the only thing to be concerned about. There are a number of serious diseases you can catch if you are sleeping with a partner you're not married to, or one who has had sex with anyone else. (And you can't always trust the word of someone who has sex with you outside of marriage that you are his only.) Unfortunately, some of these diseases are deadly, and can't be cured. And a woman can get such a disease if there is penetration of any opening of her body. People say that a woman should have protected sex. Well, there is no such thing. Condoms fail. So do other methods.
Another thing is that you might find it helpful to learn how to tell when you are fertile. You can't be using hormones, and you have to chart faithfully. But the mucus can give you the sign that pregnancy is possible. So if you learn that, you can avoid sex when you are fertile if you don't want to get pregnant.

Good luck with this. Let me know how you do. Whatever happens, getting a second abortion is not a good idea. It could cause you serious harm, and in our experience, a woman can get into the habit of having abortions, and the only thing that breaks that cycle is either to carry to term, stop having sex, or become unable to conceive.

QUESTION: so your saying there is a good possibility that i can be pregnant right now, and is it true that its more likely for you to become pregnant right after an abortion.what do you say are my chances of pregnant right now
Answer Hello, jenna,
There is a possibility you could be pregnant. I don't know if it is a good possibility or not. You could simply have leftover hormones from the previous pregnancy. Nobody knows what your "chances" are of being pregnant. You either are, or you aren't. Only time will tell. I hope things work out for you. Please let me know how things turn out.
