About Pat G
Expertise
I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of six. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues.

Experience
I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.

Question
ok i had an abortion at the end of may 09 when i was 4 months...i started taking birth control right after the abortion...i still haven't had a period...i'm too scared to take a test...could i be pregnant...yes i've had unprotected sex since then....

Answer
Hello, Lisa,

Supposedly, the birth control will prevent pregnancy, but as you well know, it isn't foolproof. The only thing that is foolproof is abstinence. You might want to think about your lifestyle, whether it's worth the worry and fear you are feeling. Obviously, at some point you will have to test. The birth control could confuse things, however. You should consult a doctor about it. The other factor is that sometimes birth control suppresses a woman's periods. The doses are not carefully calculated, and may be too much for some women. So you really need to find a decent doctor and ask him your questions. Don't go to the person who did the abortion.

The other thing you should be concerned about is disease. You can get a nasty disease from any penetration of any opening in your body. If your partner has slept with other people, this is a very real danger, and there are other diseases that a woman can get even if he hasn't.

Please see a doctor. Let me know what you find out. I'll be here for you.
