Question
Hello

I have a question for you.why sometimes in your responses to abortion questions..a person says that they want to have sex or something if that should be okay why you say that condoms don't work????
It has been working for sometime in my opinion to prevent aids and some s.t.d if used properly I know is 99% effective minus 1%..so can you please answer that for me? Because you are probably scaring a lot of people that might be ignorant and believe that condoms don't work!

Answer
Hello, melissa,

I say condoms don't work because they don't. Just because you have an opinion that they do, doesn't mean you are correct. Rather than give you my OPINION, I'll give you a link to some documented information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Condom#Effectiveness

As far as failures are concerned, all it takes is once. And it has been shown that unmarried people have a higher failure rate on top of that. And then there is the fact that you have to rely on the integrity of the manufacturer and distributor. There is strong evidence that Planned Parenthood was distributing defective condoms in Africa, and knew about it! When called on it, they didn't have any excuse to offer. As far as STDs are concerned, Dr. Lorraine Day, who used to work in the emergency room in San Francisco, and saw plenty, says the HIV virus has 1/50 the diameter of the average hole that occurs normally in a good condom.

Finally, keep in mind that a woman is normally fertile less than 20% of the time, so pregnancy rates will be lower than the rate of infection from STDs. Simply put, there are just too many things that can go wrong.

You yourself admitted that condoms have a 1% failure rate. Like I said, all it takes is once. I have had numerous women come and tell me that they used a condom and got pregnant anyway. Don't worry about me scaring people. They NEED to be scared, and SOMEBODY needs to point out that the propaganda they have been fed is false. Too many people have a false sense of security.

The failure rate will be much lower after only one use, but people rarely use them just once. Like I said, all it takes is once. Hey, if someone wants to use a condom, it's their funeral, but I sure wouldn't rely on one for such an important task. So I'm not going to lie to people; I'm going to tell them the truth.

I get the impression you may have a personal stake in this issue. If so, I hope this information helps stave off any problems you might have in the future. Please take care of yourself.

I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of eleven. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues. I am not a doctor, but I have done extensive medical research, so I may be able to help with information. I am female. When you write, if you are or were pregnant, please tell me how far along you were or are, and if you have had an abortion, please tell me what kind. Thank you.

Experience

I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.
