Question
I had a surgical abortion on 2/3 at 8 weeks pregnant. On 2/8 I had sex again and my boyfriend penetrated me for a minute or two before stopping and putting on a condom. He did not ejaculate inside. On 2/9 I began taking ortho tri cyclen lo. My question is, is it possible that I'm pregnant again? I have been experiencing nausea (slightly worse than when i was pregnant) and heartburn (which i did not have when pregnant). I took a home pregnancy test a few days ago, and I got the pink "positive" line but it was very faint and I don't know if its just residual from the terminated pregnancy. Could I be pregnant again, or are the symptoms from the birth control pill? I'm really stressed out and embarrassed. Please help.

It is possible but very unlikely that you are pregnant again. The faint positive test is likely from the prior pregnancy. Sometimes it can take a full month to have the test be fully negative. It would be too early to have nausea or pregnancy symptoms from a new pregnancy, so the symptoms are more likely from the birth control pill, or are unrelated to either. To reassure yourself, check another pregnancy test in one week. If it is still faint or negative, there is nothing to worry about.
