Hello,
I had an abortion pill on 2/9 @ the doctors office and i took 4 more pills on 2/10 at home i got really bad cramps about an hour after and was having allot of discharge, cramps and heavy period for about 4 hours. i bled for about a week and a half and then the blood turned into a brown discharge that i thought was still my period but as the days go by i am realzing that it is not my period. today 2/25 i am still having the discharge and it has a period like order and is mucous. well i wanted to know if yoU might have an idea on what this is and what is usually lenght of time i should expect to get my normal period?
Dear Liz,
Intermittent, irregular bleeding, spotting, brown discharge, clots are all normal for weeks to months after the abortion pill and are completely normal. It is very difficult to know when you will get your normal period. I usually tell my patients it is best to ignore the bleeding pattern, and your period will come back to a normal cycle in 2-3 months. The only concern is to make sure you don't get pregnant again. Many women are under the misconception that if they are bleeding they can't get pregnant. NOT TRUE! So, be careful.
