dr.joan,
i am a little concerned about my menstrual cycle. i had an early abortion at 9 wks on 26th November. i bled for about 14 day, initially light, then heavier. i had my first 'real period' on the 18th of jan, about 7 wks later. however, during intercourse on 30th jan, i started bleeding again. i dont feel any pain, so i m not sure if its an injury, or an induced period. how can i have my period in 15 days time? is it normal? my periods have been clock work before my abortion..........

Dear Anna,
This is completely normal, and nothing to worry about.  Having sex often stimulates the uterus to contract, and can cause spotting or bleeding.  Irregular bleeding or spotting can occur for months after an abortion, and is nothing to worry about. Your cycles will come back to normal in the next month or two.
