Hello Dr. Joan,
I had written to you 2 weeks about having undergone a medical abortion.
Today, I had gone to the doctor for re-visit, but was shocked to find out that HCG test showed "+-". So the doctor has given me some more pills for three days and has asked me to return after three days.
Now I am beginning to get really worried. What will happen if the HCG test report still comes as positive? Should I undergo dilatation and curettage? How much of the tissue is still remaining inside? Can you please give me some information.

Dear Jem,
It is very common to have a positive pregnancy test or hCG two weeks after a medical abortion. It can take up to a month, or even more, before the hormones disappear and the test is negative. I am not sure why he is checking the test. Did he do an ultrasound? What pills did he prescribe? Until I know more information, I would not recommend a D&C. When you send back the information, also let me know where you live.
