I have had a surgical abortion today with a local anaesthetic.

I was advised this was the safest method and best for recovery.

It was explained it would be painful but likened to bad period cramps.

It was nothing as described. I was in agony from start to finish, I was screaming, crying.

The pain was nothing like cramps. It hurt constantly and the contractions were unbearable. I was only 9 weeks 1 day.

I would not advise anyone to have only a local anaesthetic.

I can honestly say this was the most horrendous moment of my life.
