Question
QUESTION: Hi, Dr Joan
I had a abortion done 2weeks ago, and I was 5weeks along, but I think I might be still pregnant cause I still have my signs of pregnacy, Also I started light bleeding right after thr producure for a week then I stopped bleeding for like 3 days now im bleeding again I want to know is that normal and what are the chances that I could still be pregnant? Can you email back ASAP!!!Thank You for your time!!!

ANSWER: Dear Shayla,
Two weeks after a procedure you should have decreasing symptoms of pregnancy.  It would be easiest to check a pregnancy test yourself. If you were only 5 weeks pregnant, then your pregnancy test should be either negative or "faintly" positive by now.  Make sure to get the pregnancy tests with two lines on them  - not the digital ones (that have words).  The bleeding you describe is 100% normal, and nothing to be concerned about.
I hope this is helpful,

QUESTION: Ok thank you, but I had one more question if you do mot mind me asking, ok like i said I had the abortion two weeks ago, but on my weeks me and my boyfriend had sex without an condom, but before he "ejaculated" or came he pulled out, and I wanted to know what the chances of me being pregnant before I started my birth control

Answer
Shayla,
Generally withdrawal is not that reliable - it depends on how good he is at it, and at what stage in your cycle it happens. The only way to know for sure is to check a pregnancy test.
A pregnancy test turns positive about 2 weeks after the incident. If a test is negative three weeks after an incident, you can feel fairly confident you did not get pregnant. I hope this is helpful,
Doctor Joan
