Question
Hye Dr. Joan,
Last Wed (13May) i had an abortion. It was 5 to 6 weeks fetus.
After the procedure and when i get up from several minutes unconcious, i had my first urine flush and there was some bleeding. I got cramping similar to menstrual cramping in the evening. on the second day, i felt better and no more cramping and there was a liitle bleeding and it is light in colour. On the third day (today) early in morning, i had my pregnancy test (Clearblue) at home but it is still positively, pregnant.. Is the D&C procedure failure or how??

Answer
Dear Aaliyah,
It is completely normal for a pregnancy test to be positive three days after a procedure. In fact, it will probably remain positive for the next 7-10 days.  There is nothing to be concerned about. Everything you describe sounds completely normal.
Here is some more information about pregnancy tests after abortion:

I hope this is helpful,
