Question
Hello Dr Joan

I had a abortion exactly 2 months ago at 16 wks,I never had much complication, I bleed for a week, had like 2 clots and pain the second day after surgery after that had little to no pain and 4 wks after the procedure i had a period..... 3wks after the abortion i got a sore throat and high fever for 2 days. I had some theraflu and felt better, its been two months now and yesterday i started off with sore throat. Today, i have a high fever 100.7 and 101.8 and most concerning pelvic pain on the left side before this and a little while after the abortion i would feel mild pelvic pain on both side should i be concern? does this have anything to do with my abortion 2 months ago? could it be that i have a infection is it life threaten? please reply asap i am freaking out much thanks in advance.

Answer
Dear Becky,
The pelvic pain could not be from the abortion, 2 months later.  There is nothing to be concerned about.  Infections after an abortion occur within days of the procedure.  You could have gotten something recently, since the procedure, or your pain could be normal, from ovulating or from a pending period.  Try taking ibuprofen 800mg every 6 hours, 3 or four times.  If the pain continues to increase, you should get an evaluation.
I hope this is helpful,
Doctor Joan
