Question
Will MTPill and Misoprost work if taken in a gap of 60 hrs ? Is bleeding a sign of abortion after taking MTpill?

Answer
Hello, Tarun,

It is my understanding that this is within the range of when it is recommended to take them. That said, there are several things I need to tell you.

First of all, bleeding and cramping are usually what happens. And something other than just blood also should pass from the body. But bleeding can happen and still not necessarily produce abortion.

You haven't said how far along the mother of your child is (I assume this is your child you are talking about). This is important, because pill abortions don't work very late in pregnancy.

If you have a Cipla kit, THROW AWAY the second set of pills and do NOT use them. They are dangerous. They could kill her. Cipla has recommended they be used vaginally. This is the WORST way to use them. This medication is NOT intended for pregnant women. It is a stomach ulcer medication. Cipla is really committing medical malpractice every time it sells one of these kits. Once you have done that, find a decent doctor. The doctor may be able to give treatment that will help everything to turn out all right.

Also please be aware that a lot of women in India are bleeding to death after pill abortions. I get questions here from Indian women all the time who are bleeding uncontrollably.

To find a decent doctor, please contact a crisis pregnancy organization. You can find one by going here: http://www.heartbeatinternational.org/worldwide_directory.asp  Select "India" from the Country dropdown list. There are six organizations in India. I have been promised a list of more, so if none of these is near you, please let me know and I'll see what I can find out. Ask them to recommend a doctor.

PLEASE take care of her. It's your responsibility to protect her. Please let me know how things turn out. Thank you.

Expertise

I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of eleven. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues. I am not a doctor, but I have done extensive medical research, so I may be able to help with information. I am female. When you write, if you are or were pregnant, please tell me how far along you were or are, and if you have had an abortion, please tell me what kind. Thank you.

Experience

I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.
