About Pat G
Expertise
I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of six. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues.

Experience
I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.

Abortion - Periods after DNC

Expert: Pat G - 6/22/2009

Question
I had a DNC,in April, which gave normal consequences like no bleeding later, I got my periods in normal time also,as Doctor told how it should be. She asked not to have sex for 1 month after DNC,but as yesterday after intercourse light bleeding started like in periods, my normal periods are still 5-7 days due.wondering if it's normal or something wrong.please guide asap.

Answer
Hi, Isabelle,

I'm not quite sure what you are asking. Are you saying you should be having a period now, but you're not? Please clarify the question.

The light bleeding after intercourse may be due to your uterus contracting a little. This contraction is normal, but when you had the D&C, the surface of your uterus was injured, and could very well be bleeding a little.

So see if you can explain your question another way. Thank you.
