you absolutely CAN have an abortion at week 8 & it absolutely can work. medical abortions can be administered up to 9 weeks into the pregnancy. at the doctor's office, an ultra sound will determine how far along you are, and if it's past 9 weeks, they won't allow you to have a medical abortion, and will instead suggest a surgical.

Also, ER's do NOT have to treat you. I'm not sure where you're getting your infomation, but in the US we have a for-profit healthcare system & that pretty much means if you can't pay for it, or have an insurance company pay for it, you're out of luck.

bleeding and discharge after a medical abortion can last up to 6 weeks & that is completely normal. it all depends on the woman and given that you were nearly as far along as you could have been, that could by why you're bleeding and discharge is lasting so long.

this is a very stressful time for your uterus & activities like sex could lead to infections if you're not fully healed yet. I would keep calling the clinic to let them know that you really need an appointment, and to have them notify you if someone cancels.

hang in there, it will be over soon & things will be back to normal eventually, you just have to be patient & aware of what your body is telling you. take it easy until the coast is clear!

Expertise

I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of eleven. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues. I am not a doctor, but I have done extensive medical research, so I may be able to help with information. I am female. When you write, if you are or were pregnant, please tell me how far along you were or are, and if you have had an abortion, please tell me what kind. Thank you.

Experience

I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.
