Question
Almost a week ago i had a abortion by pill, i am still bleeding and five days after taking the final set of pills me and my boyfriend had sex where he did ejaculate inside me...can i get pregnant this soon and while im still bleeding?

Answer
Hello, rebecca,

These pills haven't been in use for very long. I don't think anybody knows how soon after a pill abortion women can become pregnant again. For one thing, the pill is powerful hormones, and they disrupt your delicately balanced hormones, so no telling. It is unlikely that you can become pregnant this early. But why are you still taking chances? I don't assume you want to go through that again. Remember, sex is for making babies, too. And abortion is dangerous. A pill abortion can kill you within hours. It's not worth the risk.

Another thing is that as long as you are bleeding, your uterus is wide open for infection, and some of the things you could get infected with are very troublesome, sometimes even deadly. If he has ever slept with anyone else at all, this is a possibility. He may not even be aware if he is carrying something.

You might want to learn how to tell when you are fertile, and yes, if you are very attentive, you can tell even if you are bleeding. You have to chart faithfully, and you can't be using hormones. It does mean that right after a pill abortion, you probably won't be able to get a reliable indication. But for more information, you can go here:

There are two situations where a woman can become pregnant when she thinks she is safe. One is if he uses a condom. Condoms don't work. The other is if the man deposits any pre-cum inside or near the opening to your vagina. In other words, withdrawal doesn't work, and occasionally a man will simply leave a little outside the opening and pregnancy still occurs. It's not often, but it does happen.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you need to talk about anything else. I am available if you do become pregnant and need help. But please keep yourself safe. Don't take any more risks with your life.

PS
Rebecca,

Thank you so much for clarifying and for the excellent rating. And you're welcome. I won't worry about you. :) Take care.

Expertise

I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of eleven. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues. I am not a doctor, but I have done extensive medical research, so I may be able to help with information. I am female. When you write, if you are or were pregnant, please tell me how far along you were or are, and if you have had an abortion, please tell me what kind. Thank you.

Experience

I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.
