I suffered HG...Well I was wondering could I be pregnant again, you know is there a possibility.....On June 3rd I had the abortion. June 13th I had unprotected sex(note: mu bf and I never use condoms and he never pulls out) Then I did it again June 18th and so on... Then on July 13th I received my period. It lasted 4 days, so on July 16th I had unprotected sex on the 18th, 21st and 23rd... I cramped for six days after this cycle....Then today Aug. 10th I started to spot a brownish red, then it turned a darker red but not heavy.. I was wondering could this be a period? or could this be something dealing with a second pregnancy... Deep down I want to conceive again but I think it is impossible.. Im so sad but need to know if there is a possibility so i can gety checked and nt deal with the pressures of illness and lack of support because abortion hurts...please help me if you can.

Answer
Dear Kenyada,
You can go ahead and check a pregnancy test.  If you conceived more than two weeks ago, it should be positive by now.

There should be no problem with you getting pregnant again, so if you want to get pregnant you should continue what you are doing. If you are not pregnant this month, keep trying.  Abortion does not interfere with your ability to get pregnant, and you can get pregnant right away.

It sounds like you are suffering from your decision to have the abortion.  While it sounds painful, there is a silver lining to every situation.  If you ended the pregnancy in the first few months, it was very early, before the pregnancy was really viable.  It sounds like this experience helped you to learn 1) that you want to be pregnant; 2) that you need more support than you knew to be able to carry a pregnancy.  While you are trying to get pregnant, you may want to take a hard look at your situation and make sure you have the support you need to have a baby at this point in your life.  Why are people unsupportive of your decision to have a baby?  Find out more, and see if you can get the support you need.

I hope this is helpful,
Doctor Joan
