the second termination, i bleed in total of 4 wks. i was spotting for most of the time.

should i get a regular check up on my womb/ cervics?

Answer
Hello, tina,

There are other things you need to be concerned about, but since you have raised the question of infection, so I will address that. One way to tell if you have an infection is to see if you have an elevated white blood cell count. If the infection is inside your uterus, you probably will, but if it is in your abdomen, that's another matter, because there is no blood supply between the organs, each of which is in its own sac. You can also be tested for things like pelvic inflammatory disease, sexually transmitted disease, and HIV. Each of these can be caused by abortion. The amount you bled doesn't have any connection with whether or not you have an infection.

You also need to be aware that you have a heightened risk for breast cancer in a few years, and a heightened risk that you will not have a normal pregnancy in the future. I can talk more about these if you would like more information.

I recommend you go to a doctor with your questions. You wouldn't need a regular checkup. But he can test various things and tell you more. Nobody will be able to tell you anything over the internet, as you realize. Please go to someone who did not supply you with either abortion. Go to someone new, preferably someone who knows that abortion is dangerous, because he will know what to look for.

I hope this helps. Please take care of yourself, and don't take any more risks. You deserve better. Let me know what you find out and how you do.

Expertise

I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of eleven. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues. I am not a doctor, but I have done extensive medical research, so I may be able to help with information. I am female. When you write, if you are or were pregnant, please tell me how far along you were or are, and if you have had an abortion, please tell me what kind. Thank you.

Experience

I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.
