Abortion/Doctor Advice?

Question
I had an abortion early this month. I have not gone back to my doctor to get checked up because I am from a small town, and very embarrassed for word to get out if someone saw me at the clinic or doctors' office. Is it unhealthy that I have not gone back? Is it too late to go back now? What things should I be worried about? What all happens in the check-up after the abortion? Can I go to a different doctor?

Answer
Hi Tay,

It is very important to go to the follow up appointment because the doctor needs to check for infections, to make sure you are healing properly, it's important to see that your cervix has closed completely and to make sure the abortion was complete. I advise you to make another appointment, don't be embarrassed, if anybody sees you make an excuse as to the reason you are there. You can go to a different doctor, however many doctors don't like doing other doctors work but still try. Good luck!
