QUESTION: I had an abortion after early 8 weeks of pregnancy through D/C method. But after the procedure, i had a spotting or just a small amount of blood coming out for just a day only. Is it normal? Please help....

Everyone bleeds differently after an abortion. A small amount of bleeding is normal after a d&c. You don't need to worry.

QUESTION: After 4 days of the said procedure and of taking of antibiotics, I have abdominal cramps and diarrhea. It started when I put orange juice in my diet because of constipation which is my problem eversince. Is it normal to have diarrhea?
My spotting stops on the 2nd day after the procedure and it appears now with dark red color of blood and some small clots. Is it normal?
I read some article about postabortal syndrome but it doesnt explained well, please give me a basic details about this especially the signs and symptoms...

Hi Betchay,

Postabortal syndrome is blocking of the cervix by either tissue or clots after the procedure, and this can be dangerous, as it does not allow the proper normal evacuation of the uterine contents, and does not allow the uterus to return to normal size. The symptoms include severe cramping, sweating, lightheadedness, nausea and diarrhea. With delayed onset, you will usually feel well until the sudden onset of symptoms and signs, often with very light or no bleeding following the procedure. I advise you go and get checked out by your doctor. Good luck!
