Abortion/Back pain & cramping after abortion

Question
I had a medical abortion 2 days ago (I was 10+ weeks apparently) and was told it was incomplete and i need to go back a week today for a scan and possibly surgical procedure to 'finish it'. I'm worried though cos I've been having bad stomach cramps, worse than bad period pains, and agonising lower back pain that means i can't sit or lie down for long. Is this normal or should I be worried? If it is normal I'm worried its not gonna go away til I have my appointment next week - not sure I can cope with a week of this pain!!

Answer
Hi Laura,

The pain you are experiencing is normal as the abortion was incomplete and probably will not go away until you have the surgical procedure. All you can do is take pain medication. If the pain becomes unbearable call your doctor and demand the procedure be brought forward as more pain can sometimes indicate more damage to your body.
