Question
I had an abortion about 8 years ago and I am wondering if this will affect my ability to get pregnant and have a normal pregnancy in the future. I had a surgical abortion and my latest pap smear came back normal. I want to have children and am wondering if there are any specific tests that my doctor should do to see if I am still capable of having a child. I am 28 years old now. What should I do?

Answer
Hi Jenna,

Unless you have been trying to conceive for over a year your doctor will not perform any fertility tests. As long as there was no complications after your abortion then it will not have damaged your fertility. All you can do now is try to conceive. Good luck!
