I have been having allot of pregnancy symptoms but not a positive test result. But i have been negative in the past but was pregnant what do i do?

Answer
Hi, Tiffany,

Pregnancy tests usually won't show anything until about a week after your period is due to start.

You have a couple of choices. You can wait and see if you are pregnant, or you can get a more accurate blood test. To get a free pregnancy test, you can find an organization in your area, and they will provide both the test and counseling. There is a list of organizations here:

Should it turn out that you are pregnant, you should get a test to see how viable your pregnancy is. If you are habitually running low hormone levels, you might be prone to miscarriage. If that is the case, and you don't want to be pregnant, you don't have to do anything. Just wait.

These organizations also offer different kinds of help. Among other things, they can help you find medical care that is donated.

I assume from what you said that you are still sexually active. You are taking some pretty serious risks with your body, and you should stop doing that, for your own safety, health, and peace of mind. One abortion is cause for concern; there are long term consequences. If you start having multiple abortions, it will become much more likely that you will suffer some severe problems. We have learned that when a woman gets into a cycle like this, it can only be broken if she either stops having sex, carries a pregnancy to term, or becomes sterile.

After all, if you develop a complication, and you don't have medical insurance, who will pay for it?

You really deserve better than what is happening to you now. Please let me know what happens and how you do.

Expertise

I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of eleven. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues. I am not a doctor, but I have done extensive medical research, so I may be able to help with information. I am female. When you write, if you are or were pregnant, please tell me how far along you were or are, and if you have had an abortion, please tell me what kind. Thank you.

Experience

I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.
