Question
Hello Diane,

I had my abortion(Surgery) on 8th January. I was 6 weeks pregnant at that date. I didn't have much bleeding, just few dull, red spots. Mild cramping lasted for few hours on the day if abortion.
I then had NO morning sickness or Breast tenderness.
On 13th January, after 5 days, I had severe cramps on lower abdomen and excessive bleeding in clots (sized to one grape). At night, I had bit of Fever. I couldn't stand properly as I was feeling Giddy and was about to faint any moment. No Nausea or breast tenderness. I have decided not to have physical intercourse with my Husband until I'm Mentally and Physically prepared for it.
I'm terribly worried about this. Was the abortion done properly? is this normal to happen few days after abortion? Kindly advise me.

Hi Sheryl,

Have you gone to the post abortion appointment? Usually you are scheduled for a followup appointment approximately 2 weeks after the abortion.

There can be some side effects from an abortion but I'm not sure about the symptoms that you mention. It could be a sign of an infection. If you have not gone to a followup appointment and you still have these reactions, I would suggest getting this checked out. Abortion can have serious consequences.
