Abortion/hcg level after an abortion

Question
I recently had an abortion on september 17th, I have had unprotective sex using the pullout method 3 weeks after the abortion. I went to my doctor for birth control on october 20th. She took a blood sample to test for pregnancy and my hcg level was 39 when a woman who isn't pregnant hcg level should be 5 and below. I was wondering if it is possible that my hormone level hasn't dropped completely from the abortion or is it moreso that I'm pregnant again?

Answer
You would have to have another test in 1 week to seek if the level drops or increases to diagnose whether you are not pregnant.  The other option is to perform a urine pregnancy test in 1 week.  It should be negative.  If it is positive then you may have a new pregnancy.
