Question
I took the abortion pill, mifipristone and misoprostol. I'm a little concerned now though because I took them in August, the pregnancy was terminated, but I've been continuously bleeding since then. It's been almost three months now. I went back to the clinic after about a month and a half, they looked and said there was some wierd fluid in the uterus but said not to worry, it should come out.

Now its been a month and a half later, for the last week and a half it was brown discharge, but now its starting to get red again.

Any ideas doctor?

Answer
Hi Koz,

The brown discharge is old blood, the new red blood could be the new period.
The uterus is a selfcleaning organ, so indeed everything comes out in a while.
You need patience and no worry as long as you don't have unprotected sex.
There are no safe days after an abortion until the periods are regular again.
Hope this helps you accepting your situation.

Bye for now,
Dr Shan
