Hi, please can someone help me?  I have been searching on
the internet for 8 days now with no help or answers.  I had
a medical abortion 8 days ago by having an injection of the
methotrexate.  Two days later I followed up with misoprostol
taken orally.  I nervously waited for days and nothing
happened.  This is SO hard to pretend that everything is
okay and normal with my kids and family.  I contacted my
clinic and followed up 4 days later with another 800mg of
misoprostol taken orally.  48 plus hours, nothing.  I had
only a small amount of brown discharge and SLIGHT cramping
after the second dose.  I'm afraid that the pregnancy is
continuing or much worse, that it is terminated and not
expelling.  My clinic has only been offering this procedure
for a month and can't help much as I am the first person to
have this problem.  Of course, searching the internet for
answers is a scary thing that hasn't offered much advice.  I
am hoping someone can help me.  I live in a place that is
pretty much the "bible belt" and have not got a lot of
places to turn.  What do I do?  I don't want to end up very
sick, and am already not feeling very well.  Thanks SO much

Hi Jennifer,

I am not an official medical personnel so cannot answer some of your questions. I wish you could have contacted me before abortion because I would not have advised you for this. I have been receiving many questions and emails about problems after medical abortion.

Can you go to your regular physician to ask about this situation?
Another place I could suggest is maybe a pregnancy resource center. They might be able to recommend a physician who could help you. Sometimes they have ultrasound equipment and could see if you are still pregnant. If you are, I would recommend that you follow through with the pregnancy. Or a physician might be able to detect if the baby has died and has not expelled. Please seek help because this can be a dangerous situation for your health.
