Question
im 22years old and i had an abortion 5days ago  using the cytotec pills. At first i bled heavily then took sylate pills to stop the bleeding and now its so little. Im having at times extremely painful flashes at my lower abdomen and at my rectum. What could be the problem and what medication should i take.

Answer
Hello, leah,

Your problem is that you shouldn't have taken any medication to begin with. Cytotec can cause contractions of the uterus that are so powerful that they can rupture the uterus. Also, they won't necessarily cause an abortion. How far along were you?

The Sylate should help with the bleeding, and it seems that it has. However, it IS a drug, and can be dangerous. Try some cayenne (red hot peppers) instead. You can take it as a supplement, or get it in food. This should be done regularly until the bleeding has stopped for good. When it comes to stopping bleeding from the uterus, some medications can cause serious pain. But relieving the pain can start the bleeding again. The bleeding is dangerous. A woman can actually bleed to death. Cytotec stops the hormone that controls a woman's bleeding.

I recommend you see a doctor as soon as possible. Do NOT go back to whoever gave you the Cytotec. They have poor medical judgment and cannot be trusted. If you have trouble finding a good doctor, let me know. I have a list of resources from all over the United States.

Please let me know how you do, and keep in touch.

Expertise

I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of eleven. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues. I am not a doctor, but I have done extensive medical research, so I may be able to help with information. I am female. When you write, if you are or were pregnant, please tell me how far along you were or are, and if you have had an abortion, please tell me what kind. Thank you.

Experience

I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.
