Question
I did surgical abortion on November 26,2010. I had cramp and bleeding for the first week. Four weeks after i had protected sex. I am having terrible pain in my lower abdomen and back. I am on vacation and not able to reach my doctor. whenever i urinate or try to pass faeces i have terrible cramps. My abdomen feels soar also. I am not having foul smell or discharge, just pain and tenderness. I took regular tub bath. I am far away from home. What do you suggest.

Answer
Hello, Dainy,

Should I assume you are currently in the United States? When you say you cannot reach your doctor, do you mean the abortionist, or your regular doctor? Is your doctor in the United States? If you are trying to reach the abortionist, forget it. He isn't likely to admit he harmed you.

Abortionists in the United States are very careless. They often injure women. If worse comes to worst, in the United States you can always go to the emergency room. You take potluck when it comes to doctors and other personnel, but it's better than doing nothing.

Having sex can cause an injury to flare up both because of the physical motion inside the abdomen, and also because of the activation of hormones. You should not take a tub bath until this is resolved. You don't want to add any problems to the ones you already have. Even though the danger may be minimal, medical practice assumes that taking a tub bath can be a source of infection.

If you are not married, you shouldn't be having sex. Protection doesn't work. You could end up right where you were just a month ago. Talk to your partner about respecting your body and not putting you at risk. If he isn't willing to protect you, then you deserve someone else who will. If you are married, there is no reason why you shouldn't have a child. If you are having problems for some reason, there are organizations all over the United States that can help you. You can find one near you by going to this web site:

http://www.optionline.org/

The link to the lists is on the right.

I recommend that to find a good doctor to help with your current problem, you DO go to your local organization, because all of them have connections to good doctors, people who know abortion is bad medicine and aren't afraid to admit it when a woman has been hurt.

I can't really tell you anything over the internet that will make it possible for you to treat this problem yourself. Self-medication is never a good idea. When you do that kind of damage to your body, a home remedy would not be all that useful, either.

So please go find a good doctor and go to him. Please take care. Don't take any more chances, and please let me know how you do

Expertise

I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of eleven. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues. I am not a doctor, but I have done extensive medical research, so I may be able to help with information. I am female. When you write, if you are or were pregnant, please tell me how far along you were or are, and if you have had an abortion, please tell me what kind. Thank you.

Experience

I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.
