I bleeded properly for two weeks with clots, after that till now 19 feb i did not have any problem, I did not got an ultrasound after my abortion but I did the pregnancy test it came negative.Today I have really got fat on the stomach and today I had a vomitish feeling. I am scared that am I still pregnant or everything is fine.I would really appreciate if could get an answer.

ANSWER: Hello, Tashu,

Your question was in the question pool rather than addressed specifically to me, and I just saw it.

You probably know by now if you are still pregnant. Pill abortions often don't work that late. So I think it's likely, without you saying so, that it didn't work. The pills may cause you to have abnormal hormone levels for awhile, but assuming you are still pregnant, I hope you won't take any more chances with your life. If it turns out you are still pregnant, please go to a decent doctor and let him advise you. There is a slight chance of birth defects, but given how far along you were, the possibilities are more remote.

By the way, the manufacturer of misoprostol specifically says that a pregnant woman should NOT take it. Whoever gave it to you was being very irresponsible.

I recommend you get some counseling, and also a recommendation for a decent doctor. You can find an organization that provides these services by going here:

Let me know how you are doing, and feel free to ask more questions. Take care, and please don't take any more chances with your life.

QUESTION: Thank you so much for your reply. Till now as of 5 march I am not having any troubles but I will do the pregnancy test again to confirm.I want to know that now when will I have normal periods cycle again.
I would never use that pill again as before I was unaware of its effects.

Thank You

Answer
Hello, Tashu,

Thank you for getting in touch again, and you're welcome.

Nobody really knows when your body will return to a normal cycle. Every woman's body is different. You will just have to wait and see.

As far as your being unaware of the possible risks of the pills you took, this doesn't surprise me at all. They never bother to tell a woman what the dangers are, because if they did, most women would never have an abortion, and they make money from abortion. So if you were to seek an abortion another way, they won't tell you under those circumstances, either.

Please give some careful thought to the situation so you don't end up pregnant again and tempted to try abortion again. (Or to try it for this pregnancy, if it still exists). Abortion is very dangerous, no matter how it is done, and it leaves permanent damage to a woman's reproductive organs about a third of the time, not to mention other possible consequences. Abortion can kill you or cause serious disability, such as paralysis or inability to speak. If you are putting yourself at risk for pregnancy and you are not married, I recommend you abstain from sex. You deserve better. It is not in your best interests to run that kind of risk. Condoms are very unreliable, and birth control hormones are also dangerous for you. Pulling out doesn't work. Please take care of yourself. Let me know how things go.

I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of eleven. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues. I am not a doctor, but I have done extensive medical research, so I may be able to help with information. I am female. When you write, if you are or were pregnant, please tell me how far along you were or are, and if you have had an abortion, please tell me what kind. Thank you.

Experience

I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.
