hello doctor,
i had an abortion on 30th jan 2010 and post-bleeding lasted around 3 weeks which was very light towards the 2nd week. After abortion i had unprotected sex (1st encounter after abortion) on 26th feb 2010. the next night i had light spotting and now it has increased a bit but since 2 days happening on and off. im confused if this is my 1st period after abortion, since i normally have them a week before the date it happens. OR if it's general bleeding after sex and i need to have the emergency contracpetive pill OR if it's infection? im really confused plz help me out!! thanku sooo much!

Hi Susan,
Fact is that after an abortion periods tend to be irregular for a prolonged time. Nothing can be said about that for sure, unless you start immediately with the contraceptive pill.
Ovulation takes place 10 - 1 days after the abotion again. So there was a chance to get pregnant again if you had unprotected  (WHY) sex between feb  7th and 17th. Which you had not.
Some spotting after sex is not abnormal and no reason to worry. That's confusing.
Infections have other symptoms.
Just have patience and use contraception, so you do not have to worry !
